Re: Howlite: Thoughts about this gem.

I consider it a economical version of sleeping bty something like that.

I remember during a Jackie Kennedy reproduction show that host said

that she had a piece just because she liked it. A bracelet. I was interested

enough to investigate it on the web.

Re: Howlite: Thoughts about this gem.

@SilleeMee. @SharkE   I actually had an email conversation with that man who presented the Kennedy jewelry about this necklace.  I suggested the prime minister was gifting on "the cheap" and apparently Jackie didn't know the difference.  She probably though she was getting Persian turquoise.  He didn't disagree.  Anyone who knows turquoise can instantly identify a Howlite substitute.  The matrix is quite distinctive and different from turquoise.

Re: Howlite: Thoughts about this gem.

LOL poor Jackie.

I 'll never forget seeing Loni Anderson on Q or some show yrs and yrs ago selling her reproduction jewelry and imitations of her yellow canary diamond engagement ring from Burt Reynolds. Seems like it was 7 cts.

Anybody that knows squat about diamonds knows a colored diamond like the canary is a big deal.

It came out later that the ring she had on was paste that Burt had made he had took in the real to be what I call hocked, but, the proper word I guess is pawned for money he needed for something at the time.

All the people sitting there oohhhing and ahhhhing over her canary thinking since it was Loni Anderson she had on the rare ring.

bet she felt like **** later on when she found out what Burt had done.

course, they divorced later.  Poor Loni, always liked her. Don't see her much any more.

Re: Howlite: Thoughts about this gem.

@SharkE The setting on that bracelet is nice, but the dyed howlite looks terrible. Not a fan of dyed stones. Except some like "black" onyx. But on Jackie Kennedy, even a rhinestone would look great. I like her style. She was a fashion icon.

Re: Howlite: Thoughts about this gem.

@sunshine45 Me too. That's why I made this post. Howlite in its natural color is gorgeous. My Howlite piece are the earrings that I showed in another post.

Re: Howlite: Thoughts about this gem.

@depglass @You can get Howlite in its natural color, no need for that horrible blue dyed they put on the gem.
