The color of Tiffany's boxes may be deliberate because Tiffany was an early developer of interest in turquoise jewelry in America. They had the rights to mine the Cerrillos Mines which are just a few miles south of Santa Fe and date back to pre-historic times. They threw a cocktail party out at the mine that is still discussed today, to foster interest in it. Most of the mines in the Cerrillos Hills are now closed and a state park or are on private land and are inoperative. There are many good stories about these mines. There's variability among SB turquoise. Anything in the range of lighter blue shades might well qualify.

I have several pieces and the colors vary a little. I have one absolutely gorgeous ring with a darker blue than the other pieces and my jeweler said it's a much better quality than most of what he sees (It's a 14k ring from Michael V on Shop). I also have other shades of turquoise. No matter the color, they're all in the same family of robins egg blue.

Blue with no striations. Similar to Persian turquoise.

Boring, I don't care if the mine is closed, never cared for it now or back in the day when I sold turquoise. I prefer Kingmen...JMO
