Can someone please help me out here? I am having a hard time changing the time on my Isaac watch. I know there is a trick to it....have had problems in the past. Mine came with an incomplete owners manual....nothing about setting the watch, just about battery info. I've already broken 2 fingernails this am trying to pull out the stem to no avail! Thanks!

I am happy to assist, as I went through the same experience yesterday before I figured it out! Including messing up a nail
The stem needs to be released before you can pull it out to set the time. Do this buy turning the stem (while it is in place right next to the body of the watch). Turn it toward you. Keep turning it and you will see that the stem is loosenig/unscrewing, and soon you will be able to easily pull it out. Set the time (yay). Then push it back into place holding in in position while you tighten it back up (by turning in the opposite direction, away from you).
I am smiling because I was convinced my watch was "broken" (my manual is buried in my files)- glad I did not send it in to the manufacturer to "fix" it.
Happy Daylight Savings Time!

""by"" instead of ""buy"" I have not had my coffee yet and plead Daylight Savings Time fatigue.

Thanks Athenian- ha you can give clear instructions in one sentence, took a paragraph for me
Guess that is why I had a problem with this watch- actually I did know the trick but when it came back from the manufacturer (battery replaced- I have one of the originals whose case is attached with multiple tiny screws) the stem was in ultra tight. Must have been machine tightened- I assumed it was broken. Set it aside for several months and then got desperate yesterday and worked at it until I finally got the screw to release. Made my day as I love my light pink ceramic watch. I have another Isaac watch (you can change the battery easily on that one) but the pink was is my favorite.
It's these small triumphs that cheer me up! Best of luck ev255 let us know how you make out!

Thanks Athenian, that was nice of you to say! I live in the boonies (very rural area) and if you bring a piece to a jeweler they send it out themselves, it takes forever and they charge an arm and a leg. This has pushed me into a DIY phase for the simple stuff on modestly priced items- thank goodness for the internet- there is always someone to reach out to for advice or an article to help.
I also have to drive for miles and miles just to get to a real jeweler!! Hence my loyalty to QVC and other virtual shopping venues.

Screwed in crowns can be frustrating, but they do help keep the movement in good condition and make the watch more water resistant. Just be sure that after you reset the time that the push the crown all the way back in and screw it down securely by turning it clockwise (toward the 12).
For future reference, if the watch has a date window, that is the first position when you unscrew and pull out the crown. The time setting is the second position. A trick for setting the date is to set the date to the day before you want, then pull the crown and move the time around until the date is correct and then set the time. If it's afternoon, move the time around the dial one more time within the same date. That's because the date is based on 24 hours and the time only registers 1 to 12. Lots of people have trouble synching their date because they set the date and forget the am/pm thing. Hope that makes sense.

This twice annual time change is a pain in the neck all the way around!
