Among other things, I have always loved jewelry.
With that said, over 50+ years of marriage, my DH has given me quite a bit of jewelry. And I have bought some on my own.
I refuse to tell how much I have, as being called a “hog” could hurt my feelings a little. The truth does sting.
I did buy buy a few things today, as DH iNSISTED I pick out my own BD presents, coming up in a few weeks. I guess that calls the two of us optimists - longevity runs in both our families.
I have given, and continue to give pieces of my jewelry to my DD and DIL. A bit to little GD, as well.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that those men in white coats might come and carry me off to the loony bin. 😲

2. I go in cycles as to how much of my jewelry I wear. I used to wear long necklaces on a regular basis. For the past couple of years I have been wearing earrings regularly. During the summer I tend to wear bangles with my short or sleeveless clothing.
3. Aside from my wedding ring, I wear a ring on the ring finger of my right hand that is opal and diamond- my two daughter's birthstones. I never take them off. In fact I don't think I could get them off as I am a little heavier than I was when I first started wearing them.
My daughter was also born in April, my son in October Your mothers ring sounds very pretty.

It was given to me as gifts, or bought by me because I think it is pretty, not to impress someone or to flash around.
SO I have alot, don't wear much and don't worry about either.
most of my jewelry is what I bought myself. A few things were gifts from hubby and those mean a lot. Only two of my pieces have significant monetary value, one being my grandma's diamond engagement ring. Like you, I buy what I like and don't wear it to impress. Couple of my fave items are coin necklaces that I found in a small boutique downtown.

Jewelry is something that I have loved since I was a child and still have a few of those pieces. Many pieces I have given to my girls.
I really have way too much and could probably fill a shop with
all the collections. Gold, silver, gems, Southwest, larimar and other opaque stones, Middle Eastern, Egyptian, charm bracelets,
watches, pearls, Joan Rivers, KJL, Kirks Folly, Nolan Miller.
Now, being retired and mostly at home, I don't wear much of it. Hoops have always been my favorite earrings and wear them mostly. I love rings , but arthritis prevents me from wearing many that no longer fit. I've given many rings to my girls.
In recent years, I have really slowed down the buying and have been giving more to my girls.

I don't have as much as a lot of you, but I have quite a bit. I bought a lot of it many years ago when I was going thru a divorce, guess it was my therapy. Anyhow, I now wear pretty much the same pieces when I do wear it which is only when I go to the store. Don't wear any around the house.

Way too much, drawers full, I wear jewelry every day, I sometimes buy my favorite stones or ethnic pieces or chains (or whatever) solely because I LIKE IT.
I have 2 grand daughters who will ultimately INHERIT.

Compared to others my jewelry collection is probably considered very small. My yellow gold jewelry is housed in a large jewelry box and my silver/white gold pieces are in a smaller carved wooden jewelry box that belonged to my dad💕.
I don't own fashion jewelry with the exception of the Kate Spade bangle binge I went on a few years ago. What was I thinking? They live in their own box.
I am afraid to wear my wedding rings out, so I wear my MIL's thin gold wedding band and next to it on my middle finger a unique gold ring she was given by an employer. It is one of my very favorite pieces.
I wear a small gold chain with three meaningful charms around my neck and in my ears--first piercing simple gold ball studs and second piercing a small gold hoop. On my right hand I wear a gold byzantine bracelet that sits high up on my arm.
That's it. I wear these same pieces every single day. I think I could give away all the other jewelry I own and live happily ever after.
