Hints on using Jewel Jet jewelry steamer?

I picked up a used Jewel Jet jewelry cleaner at a local auction with no instructions.  Checking online I find its best to soak jewelry first.  I need to know what not to put into this thing, and how long to run the steam.  I'm starting with pearls and turquoise as a no-no.

@depglass   Add opals to your "no soak list". Also google porous stones and those that are cannot be soaked or steamed...just polish metal setting w/ cloth.
