Help needed adjusting Fossil watch band

I recently received a Fossil watch as a gift. It has a metal band and needs to have two links removed. I know Fossil stores will adjust the band but the nearest Fossil store is a three hour drive away. I found directions on-line on how to remove links but wondered if any of you have successfully removed links from a Fossil watch band. Thanks in advance.
