In the 80's I worked for a costume jewelry wholesaler who did his buying in New York.  He somehow purchased a huge diamond ring from the Helena Rubinstein collection.  As he was a widower, his daughter ended up with the ring.  She was a good friend of my daughter and I also was close to her, so she let me borrow it occasionally.  It was a band ring with many huge diamonds. There used to be many jokes about having her finger cut off durng a theft. Incidentally, we also carried the Joseph Esposito sterling line before he came to QVC.
