I listened to an end-of-year stock market summary yesterday and it was reported that during 2013 the price of gold actually decreased by about 30% compared to the truly significant gains made previously. If this is accurate then you have to wonder, Q, why we're still being inundated with flimsy gold pieces, gold clad and Bronzo? Seems that with these decreases you might actually up the ante a bit and offer more truly fine Italian jewelry (and gold jewelry from elsewhere...), and give us a break from the pricey costume stuff you've been showing on those too rare occasions when you bother with jewelry at all, because truly, that's all most of it is...

Just because theFED is messing with our currency with it's Easing program. Virtural one Trillion per month, doesn't mean gold is any cheaper in Italy.

Stevie, watch tomorrow! It's all day gems so hopefully they will feature some gold--it would have been nice if they would have had this before Christmas for gift-giving

..huh? That has no effect on the price of jewelry in the retail market.

It would've been nice if they'd done it before Christmas and it would've also been nice had they done it on a weekend, instead of the usual computer, blender, vacuum weekend fare, but of course they didn't, and I'll be working tomorrow, so unable to watch...

Sorry, experts... I don't claim to be a jewelry or market genius, but if gold can be procured for less (regardless of where), then it would seem lower price gold could be purchased and then made available for the creation of actual gold jewelry anywhere...

Or today even since so many are off. Kind of a Happy New Year treat for us? I would watch

Gold is still 4-6 times what it was in the early 2000s. That is still very expensive.

They also have to order the gold items when the prices are lower. Most of the pieces were ordered when gold was higher...Q would lose money on the jewelry...heaven forbid!
I haven't ordered gold from QVC in a few years now. I refuse to pay top dollar for something filled with silicone or the outrageous prices on their costume jewelry..and I mean Bronzo and silver clad. It's ridiculous what they want for these things.

the rise in gold prices, or any commodity, isn't reflected immediately in the retail market.....but it has been going up for a while now as I posted yesterday on this very topic....it does seem that QVC has non excuse to show resin-filled gold, bronzo, etc. I would never buy this junk and so far it seems most would rather have solid gold even if it is lighter weight than the resin-filled stuff.
