Gold Bug Party

I know there has been many discussions about selling your gold but I could find anything about Gold Bug parties. I am keeping my scrap to be melted down into a new ring setting but I have a friend who wants to sell her gold at a co-workers gold bug party. I've never heard of them. The co-worker said she didn't know the gram weight pay out.

Has anyone heard anything about these, good or bad?
