Gem Day - too much sterling silver

I've seen a few pieces that I would purchase if only they were in white gold or even platinum clad. Can't wear sterling and hate to clean sterling. Oh well, my bank account is happy!

Many Q silver pieces have white rhodium coating, except for the artisan and some of the designer jewelry does not. Nothing wrong or bad about rhodium, it's in the platinum family of metals and it keeps white gold white and also makes silver tarnish-resistant.

I wish they'd feature more gold too.  Yellow gold in my case.  Even gold clad.

As do I. I don't like and won't wear white metals.

@WildDunes   Ah...platinum, now there's a thought. Don't know if you know this but YEARS ago the Q actually did a few platinum shows. I have a few pieces from those great days gone by.

I've a platinum heart pendant, I also have a matching set, full circle pendant set in a yellow gold band around and the earrings have a yellow gold ball as the post with a platinum drop below. Both pieces are gorgeous.

Loved those shows in platinum!

Just go to the QVC website under GOLD jewelry and search NEW and you will see a collection of wonderful new designs.

Unfortunately, some prices are sky-high and feature pieces only for the serious collector.

I do not wear silver that much either, but will occasionally purchase pieces as gifts.

However, no matter the metal, a day of gemstones is FANTASTIC!

I hate the cheap gemstones!  Every time they say gems....it's the usual culprits.  Amethyst, garnet, Peridot, etc.  Only a step above cub zirconia. Precious gems are usually on silver, plated over with something else.  It would be triple the price on even 10K gold.  Precious gems are super tiny and poorly saturated. I'm spoiled by Gem Shopping Network where there is no such thing as white topaz.  Real diamonds instead and 18K and Platinum.  Nothing plated.

I think it's a shame that the industry calls 10K gold 'gold'. It's not even half gold...more alloy in it than anything else.

I prefer 14k or 18k gold, but I'd rather have silver instead of all that bronze they've presented over the years.  Those gem shows full of bronze were a big turn off for me.

Re: Gem Day - too much sterling silver

I agree. I can't wear sterling silver. I need gold (and not clad or plated) I prefer yellow or rose gold.

I also wish the information would list the country of origin for the gemstone and wear it was made. "imported" just isn't enough info for me if I'm spending $500 plus.
