Ladies what do you use to clean your precious gemstones? Recently purchased a kunzite and diamond ring and want to clean it safely, TIA for your suggestions.

I like to use the liquid ""dips"" that are sold at places like Walmart and target. There is one for diamonds and one for porous and semi-precious stones. Get the second one if you are hesitant.

Warm water and mild dish soap. Nothing scratchy, because tiny scratches will make your gemstone appear cloudy.

Another idea -- vodka. Drop it in, let it soak. Rinse. And yes, you can still drink the vodka.

There is now a "diamond" pen style cleaner that can be used on both real and faux diamonds, and works like a charm. I had a couple beautiful old CZ rings set in 14k that were TSVs years ago that I'd stopped wearing because they didn't sparkle. One treatment with the new pen and they were back in business. Are the "dip" cleaners at Walmart called "Connessieur" (sp) ? The whole line of their liquid cleaners AND CLEANING/POLISHING cloths are my very favorites for cleaning all of my jewelry. They're the ones in the red packaging.

I've used the Connoisieur line of products for years with great success. Recently bought a couple of Sunshine cloths on the recommendation of some of the posters and love those too for a quick wipedown.

Violann, yes, the diamond one is red, the other is a white opaque container. I kept messing up the spelling so I skipped typing the brand, lol! It works awesome and lasts forever. I use a soft toothbrush instead of the one they give you - theirs is cheap and the bristles catch under prongs.

There are many ways to cleanse a stone, which method you choose should be based upon the type of stone. You can soak your diamond ring in a warm solution of mild liquid detergent and water and use a soft brush to remove dirt.

Thanks
