Re: Frustrated, confused and angry

@dodies,  I'm fairly certain this is the entity that supplies Firelight jewelry to QVC:

At the bottom of the article is contact information.

Re: Frustrated, confused and angry

An overreaction.

No reason to blame Michele, as she is the rep for all diamonds, but she personally does not MAKE the jewelry, nor is it her job to repair two year old jewelry.

I buy lots of jewelry, some very expensive from everywhere, and everything will weaken and fall apart if you WEAR IT CONSTANTLY.  One silly move (my dog jumping on my hand) can weaken a prong and make me lose a stone. (I am way, way past spending thousands of dollars at QVC, but I still shop here, and I never go on a rant and blame a host/rep.)

Jewelry is not indestructible!

Many times when people buy very fine diamond rings they purchase policies that require frequent prong checking, cleaning, gold strengthening, clasp repairs, etc.

The only one to be angry about is yourself for not giving the jewelry the care it deserves. If you are confused it is because you have not done enough research about jewelry care before your purchase.

Maybe the company is in another country--that is the way it goes in the world these days.

I agree that your jeweler probably does not want to be bothered with the work. There are jewelers EVERYWHERE who could potentially fix this, but they will charge you for the work, maybe even a few hundred dollars in a nice shop.

People who buy and wear a lot of jewelry know how to get it fixed as needed. I have no idea where you live, but NYC diamond district can do anything you can imagine with jewelry.

Too bad lab created diamonds do not hold their value, as no jeweler would buy them from you, but they would certainly reset them for you at a cost.

Yes, it is frustrating to have something break, but that is the way life goes--just move forward and get it fixed.

(Our car heater fan broke two weeks ago, and my husband took it to the mechanic to replace, but we did not complain to the car dealer or the car company, because car parts wear out and break!! And yes, we use it all the time in the WInter.)

Re: Frustrated, confused and angry

My sense is the OP is not holding Michelle responsible but is seeking contact information for the manufacturer, since QVC appears to have been unwilling to help address the issue.

@dodies

Wow!  I don't blame you for being upset.  If all of the suggestions here don't work out with regards to contact info; I would agree to try a different jeweler.  Perhaps one that specializes in jewelry repair.   It may be expensive though but with the investment you've already made and you love the earrings, probably worth it to you.

Good luck.  I hope you find some help.

In June of 2023 I purchased a beautiful pair of firelight hoops, final cost, $2400.  Not cheap. Love and wore these constantly. They are the click/ release fastener. Recently, one catch has gotten loose. Took them to an extremely reputable jeweler I have used for years and he said they cannot be fixed. There is a spring inside they cannot repair. At this time, they don't catch at all. They appear to no longer be carried, at least at the same item number, although I see the exact same pair under a different number. Not expecting QVC to replace them, I called to see if the company could be contacted directly for possible repair. After a 30 min ordeal which involved customer service and costumer service supervisor, I was told there is NO WAY TO CONTACT THE COMPANY. I am in utter disbelief that QVC, which must purchase thousands and thousand of dollars of Firelight products, apparently has no way of contacting the company. Soooo, apparently I'm out $2400 on a pair of earrings not even a year and a half old. Beware, prsospective buyers of this product. Michelle, the product rep, who I (used) to thoroughly enjoy, goes on and on about the fabulousness and quality of these products and yet is strangely unavailable when things go wrong. I do not know if she has a Facebook account, but I do not and would rather not have to set up one just to try and contact a company which should be readily available to its customers. After spending , since they were CVN, literally thousands with QVC, this is making me seriously rethink any association with them in future.

Our motto at T&Co. was that everything can be repaired if a true craftsman is behind the jewelry bench.

Do not give up. The type of closure you describe CAN BE REPAIRED. I had the same issue with a pair of natural diamond earrings and had them repaired. The clasp with use inevitably wears and often needs to be replaced @dodies . Please seek out another jeweler. Often times jewelers prefer to only work on what THEY sell. They don't tell their customers that but it is pervasive in the industry. Even T&Co refuse to repair jewelry that they didn't sell you. So you may need to try many jewelry stores.

Good Luck!

Re: Frustrated, confused and angry

I really believe Michelle will go the distance to help you. Years ago when she was an HSN host, she had a few callers say they had trouble with an item, and she would say if you leave your name and number with my producer  I will call you back and try to intervene, only host I have ever heard say that in 30 years of TV shopping.

Are you kidding? That is cross stitch kits. Fire Light is not a company. It is a QVC marketing term that QVC applies to their lab grown diamonds that come from different manufacturers. Many of the TSVs and matching items come from a manufacturer in India which we don't know anything about.

That Ethos website seems unrelated as well: I've never seen that Maltese Cross mark on a piece of QVC jewelry.

Re: Frustrated, confused and angry

To the amazing, helpful people who replied to my frustration and understood I was not blaming Michele  but was expressing frustration with qvc:  thank you so much for all your helpful answers. To marp: through the ethos website I found a local jewelr four miles from me selling what looks like the same earrings. I'll be contacting her tomorrow. I so appreciate also Pyrite2616, mom2dogs, stevieb, Kachina624 and anyone with positive post I may have missed. To Kaydee, pdlinda and especially FancyPhillyshopper:   Seldom have I been the recipient of such a scolding, but "thanks, mom"!  I've always thought "as a buyer and wearer of a lot of jewelry" I DID have the common sense to get it repaired and fixed, or  maybe not....🤔. Thanks for the condescending and not so gentle reminder...must be, at 75, I don't have the "smarts" I used to....there's a really, really good chance I may have purchased, worn and repaired as much, if not more, jewelry than many people. Possibly even you. My wedding ring is from Bulgari, so, yes, I do know quality jewelry as much as the mext person. Please leave with the condescension.  Again, thanks to all who were so helpful,
