From Waitlist to Sold Out; How does that happen?

I was on waitlist for months for the amethyst and the citrine bangles to add to the Ripka set that was the bangle TSV. I had them listed as soon as I could after the original four were presented. There are plenty of the ones from the original set now selling as singles, but none of the additionals. I guess folks didn't like the set, so now they're trying to get rid of it by selling it off as single bangles. I have checked at least twice daily to be sure they were still waitlist. Yesterday morning they were still there but last night they were sold out. How does this process work?

If an item is waitlisted doesn't that mean they'll get more in? In the past that's what seemed to happen. I might have to wait for a long while but eventually got the item. Now I see no point in waitlisting. To me that means they don't have it and aren't going to get it so why waitlist and hope?

I checked the bay, but can't find them anywhere. When these were sold as a TSV there was a promise of others to add to the set to do the famous "mix and match and play with your jewelry." I guess people didn't like the set so it was discontinued; then people would buy the thousand dollar cuffs.

For what it's worth, I like the bangle set--nice fit and heavy, not thin and cheap, and very little diamonique.

I am really bummed.
