Extremely Tarnished Ring--Help!

Hi Ladies, I went into a hot tub recently (last time I did this was probably 20 years ago!) and a silver ring I wear on my left hand immediately turned black. I pulled out my polishing cloth-which usually has worked on everything else-and it did nothing. How do I clean and save this ring? TIA.Smiley Happy
