Went out to lunch to celebrate a birthday and my wedding anniversary today.

I decided to wear a diamond pendant when I normally never wear any kind of necklace. When I got home, I noticed my pendant was not on my neck. I looked everywhere at home and called the restaurant.

I must not have securely fastened the necklace when I put it on Woman Sad

This is simply a reminder to double check the clasps when you put on your jewelry.

Re: Double check the clasps!

Oh my, how disappointing, especially after a day of celebrating. With luck I hope it is found at home or in your vehicle.

@shy bobcat I know this may sound crazy but did you take off your clothes? I often find a missing earring in my clothing after thinking I have lost it.

I am so sorry though. What a disappointment.

@cjm61 That is a very good suggestion.

I did carefully change my clothes when I got home hoping to find the necklace but, no luck Woman Sad

I'm so sorry; such a disappointment...

Perhaps it might show up...

Despite the loss, I hope you have a happy wedding anniversary.

So, so sorry to hear this news.

You should not necessarily blame yourself for not checking the clasp. I think it would have fallen off you right away (at home) if the clasp was not closed.

Did you remember seeing the pendant on your neck IN the restaurant?

Nowadays many pendants are made with thin chains with weak links, and break easily.

Did you wear a coat? It could have caught the chain and ripped it off, either when you put the coat on or took it off.

Did you comb or brush your hair?  The teeth could have caught the chain and ripped it off.

I would RETRACE my steps (in all places in my home), to my car (also check the driveway, the grass), (the seat, the floor), and maybe even the restaurant parking lot.

Use a flashlight--it will help bring the sparkle of the stone to your attention.

Best wishes!

When something like this happens to me, I literally take apart the car we were in; check the floors of the house; check any coat or wrap; check the walk from house to car; go back to where you got out of car to the place you went to...  Meanwhile  check the ground / floor carefully.  Sometimes a big flashlight helps you concentrate better.

I have done this several times: once in the gym shower to find the Diamond from my wedding ring had just fallen out.

Another time I found the center pearl from my flower ring had fallen out when we left the shore house to go home.  It was still laying on the welcome mat when we next went down.

Another Diamond story: While I was house cleaning, the stone caught on something and I felt one of the prongs scratch my hand.  Needed the flashlight to see it in the deep pile carpet.

We've been married 58 years in in early September and I have had the prongs upgraded to platinum which is stronger than the gold ones.  I have the ring checked periodically.

Hope you find that pendant.....
