Does Enamel with on rings do well with everyday wear?

I am looking at a few rings for my girlfriend and trying to make up my mind. One that I really like is almost $2000 on sale but it has hand done enamel work on it. There are no reviews (thanks for posting them as they are a great help). Do any of you ladies have any experience with enamel rings and how they hold up to daily wear? Thank you ladies for any assistance!

Don't know what ring you are looking at, but for that amount of money I'd make a more classic choice, something that could be worn with any color. With enamel you may have wear or scratching issues, but you also need to consider the color of the enamel and how it will work with the color of clothing and other accessories. If you are going to spend over $2000, buy gold (yellow or white, depending upon the wearer's preference) and diamonds. That will work with everything.

Enamel jewelry is beautiful and I love it. Preferences are a personal choice type of thing and some people like enamel jewelry while others would prefer something else. Personally, my thinking is I'd make sure your girlfriend would like an enamel piece. The longevity of enamel jewelry depends on the process used and the quality of the line of jewelry. I'd suggest that for that price, the piece should have some sort of 'guarantee'. While lavenderjunkie makes a good point, it's also possible the recipient of this intended gift already has a jewelry collection that includes gold and diamonds and this piece intended to be that special something different. Good luck with your choice!

I went over to ebay to look at used 18k Hidalgo rings. None of them mentioned wear or looked used as I would expect them to if the enamel was worn regularly. Either they hold up well or these were only worn for special occasions.

Re: Does Enamel with on rings do well with everyday wear?

Thanks so much everyone for the kind advice and thanks Esmeraldagooch for the checking Ebay. My gut instinct is to get a the large Morganite they sell here at the Q. She has many pieces of jewelry she has collected through the years so I was looking for a signature piece that would be unusual. Since she loves big pieces I have eyed the a large Morganite here at QVC which is surrounded by diamonds but it seems they will never put the item on a payment system. The ring I am now looking at is actually the only size left here in Arte De Oro in a rose quart and enamel. It is 18 K gold. I do not see where they offer a warranty but I don't watch shows. Unfortunately even though most are sold out, there are no reviews. Of course we all know reviews are normally done when an item is received and not after wearing for a long period of time. I really appreciate everyone being kind enough to take their time to assist me as we all know that money is hard to come by in this economy. Wishes for everyone to have a great week!
