Premier show on ShopHQ -- Native American, made in USA.

Dan, the vendor, is the owner of the Carico Lake turquoise mine. He seems nice, pleasant to listen to. He said Carico Lake produces 20 shades of turquoise, has some mining stories. I hope he returns.

I looked at items on the web. They're expensive!

ETA:

It is not Native American jewelry, but I like the pieces by Jay King of HSN.

Anything handmade with quality is expensive ... the Chaco Canyon items on HSN are pricey, too.

I wish I were home to watch the show but the pieces on the internet are pretty. Did you or anyone else here purchase anything?

It must be Navajo-made because "Dine" is a word the Navajo use to refer to themselves as a people. It's pronounced with an accent on the "e", like dinee. Carico Lake is famous for it's bright green turquoise, although like most mines it produces other colors. I have a wide Carico Lake bracelet that I've never worn because I really don't like that color and never wear green.

Wow, that stuff is overpriced and the stones appear to be less than the best quality.

Not impressed - you can find it cheaper on Ebay- totally agree with Kachina - and that woman knows her SW jewelry!

Well, let's see...today I got 138-067 from Gems en Vogue at ShopHQ and I like it a lot. It's amethyst stalagmite, a big ring in a heavy substantial setting. It sparkles but is not the same sparkle as drusy.

I also recently got Carolyn Pollack's upcoming TSV bracelet in turquoise. Although I'm not a fan of doublets, this bracelet is gorgeous and quite a bargain. I found similar bracelets on HSN, one in blue topaz and one in Larimar that were in the $300-$450, range. The TSV is under $200.

When you have a lot of jewelry, you become very selective about what you like and buy. If you take the time to study and research gemstones, you find that many we consumers see are substandard. I hope anyone who is tempted by the "white turquoise" in the Dine Spirit collection, will do a search and do some reading before buying. The Durango Silver Company has some great information on their website.

well said and so true Kachina - the ""wannabe SW know it all - or think she does- Ennui) should do a little research herself but then she'd rather sit here all day trying to be a ""smart -ss!!) rumor has it she thinks Silver Tribe is the last resort in SW jewelry - how very sad!!
