Did I Get A Dud???

I just received the new markdown Mabe pearl earrings in black. (J-149717) The drop part is a completely different color from the pearl that sits on the ear. It looks purple! Is this the way it is supposed to be? I have the pink on their way too so I'm anxious to find out. Thanks!
