David Markstein on Cali Gold Rush

Just curious does anyone know why David, the gold buyer, has been on and off all day on this event?? What actually does his presence do? I've been listening to him present some of these pieces and he really does not add anything of interest that the hosts themselves can't relay.

Been watching Cali Gold Rush for a few years and can't say I remember seeing him much back then. Just a lot more recently. Thought I may have missed his explanation on why he's there.

Maybe it's more of a selling tactic that it's better to have two people telling us how great something is versus one??

And hasn't host Mary Beth always done the finale show? I recall her saying that last year. Saw on a video she was already on this afternoon.

Yes! You are right. I guess Mary Beth got bumped. I am not a fan of Lisa but she must be the top seller to get that time slot. David's presence keeps me from buying. I believe he is responsible for bringing in all the faux jewelry qvc usually sells. Smiley Tongue

Mary Beth got bumped a while ago. She may have done the closing for one of the shows last year but Lisa has been closing most of the time for a few years.

Especially since he keeps repeating that he ""just got back from Italy"".

I agree that he really adds nothing to the show. What he says can be done by any of the hosts. I saw him on with Rick earlier and he seemed to have a hard time getting a word in with Rick (can't stand his selling style). Personally, I don't enjoy having more than one host on or a host with a vendor or guest for every item sold.

Disappointed that it is not MBR. Are the stars out tonight or something? (lips made to appear larger with liner too obvious)

I tried to watch bits and pieces today. Saw David make a statement that turquoise was NEVER done in gold twenty years ago. I seem to remember some pieces in gold back then. Does anyone else? Or was it just another lie to sell that turquoise ring?

I specifically remember last year Mary Beth mentioned she always closes the Cali & Klondike gold rush shows and she's been doing it since they began doing these shows back over 25+ years ago. You may be thinking about the 24 hr. Vicenza Style shows that Lisa seems to do the finale shows for. Btw, that day is coming up on Feb 7th. Excited about that day. We'll see much more fun pieces AND know where the jewelry is from - Italy! What's up with this new "imported" descriptions?? What does that tell me? Nothing. Today's Cali Gold Rush has been boring.

Lisa probably brings in more sales and now this is her slot for these events.

I remember he was on a lot last time they brought a ""gold innovation"" called Savor. Anyone remember it? It was bonded gold over sterling. They claimed it was a sheet of gold bonded to sterling. Now it's gold over resin. Always something new

Really, people? David just doing his job. I like hearing about the products he gets to choose from to bring to the Q. It's really because of him that Q is still in the gold business especially when gold hit its peak. He knows far more about the products than the hosts do.
