Obviously, I'm not up to speed on this .....

I thought Judith sold her company to a Japanese firm and then retired.

Last night on JTV I saw Heidi Ripka, her DIL,  featuring Judith's designs for their One Year Anniversary show with JTV.   Huh?

It looked a lot like the pieces they sold on QVC.

What's the story?

Re: DIDN'T JUDITH RIPKA RETIRE?

She said she was retiring at the time.  Maybe someone else is designing the stuff under her name.  DIL obviously did not retire.

Or perhaps she discovered the Age of Possubilities.

Re: DIDN'T JUDITH RIPKA RETIRE?

judith ripka sold her company to XCEL brands roughly ten years ago.

it is the same company that owns c wonder, halston, isaac mizrahi, longaberger, twrhll.

there are no photos of judith ripka (although they mention her as an award winning designer) on their site, but heidi ripka is featured on their page.

JTV partnered with them in late 2023. JR can also be found at nordstrom rack.

Re: DIDN'T JUDITH RIPKA RETIRE?

Treated myself earlier this evening. There's another two slot at midnight I'm looking forward watching. My JR jewelry collection started long time ago, still looks brand new. Heidi, Represents the brand well. Though, I miss Judith, I'm happy, she's enjoying her life, and retirement.

Re: DIDN'T JUDITH RIPKA RETIRE?

It's the name of her brand that is still selling, presented by her DIL.

Many, many brands, like Diane Gilman's DG2, are still around even though the namesake/designer has retired from designing themselves.

Some designers have passed away and their brand is still around, Joan Rivers, Vince Camuto, etc.

Re: DIDN'T JUDITH RIPKA RETIRE?

Thanks for the info @sunshine45 I have been watching the Ripka shows on jtv.  I bought two pairs of earrings that coordinate beautifully with a ring and neckpiece I bought many years ago when Ripka sold on QVC.  Both pieces are still beautiful and in pristine condition.
