I have several rings with tiny charms dangling.  I've never got them caught on anything.  I have a 14K with a tiny heart.  An 18K one with a little anchor and heart dangling.  An 18K from Judith Ripka (a tiny heart and key) I love jewelry that moves on it's own, like dangling charms on rings, charm bracelets and charm necklaces.
