I just ordered my first pair of sterling silver earrings, and I am concerned about how to keep them from tarnishing. Any ideas on how to keep them looking like new???

I use a polishing cloth. Works well.

I bought anti-tarnish cloth from Amazon (cheap!) and lined my jewelry boxes with it to prevent tarnishing.

I use a Sunshine silver polishing cloth that I purchased from eBay. It's the best brand I've used.

Another vote for the Sunshine Cloth. It's the best.

Many SS earrings are rhodium plated, so they won't tarnish. I guess it depends on where you bought the earrings, or what brand they are, but I keep all my SS earrings in anti-tarnish jewelry boxes, and I've never had a problem with any of them tarnishing at all. I don't remember ever polishing any of my SS earrings.

I bought 2 sterling silver rings from Evine that are rhodium plated. They have never tarnished. The earrings that I am buying are from QVC. (J345957). They don't say they are rhodium plated. The last time I bought sterling from QVC (many years ago) they were tarnished when I received them. I'm not big on paying to send things back so I guess I need a cleaner.

@daisy4 - I would stick to the cloths, as most have already told you. I used to get them from Silpada (before they went out of business the first time), but now I get mine in the jewelry section of Walmart - a nice poster here told me about that. They work fine. Enjoy your new earrings! ![]()

It would never occur to me to send something back because it was tarnished. A 15 second swipe with a good polishing cloth would fix that.
@daisy The earring you chose are very pretty but I hope they don't tarnish because they'd be murder to clean. Please get yourself a small anti-tarnish box in which to store them.
Something like this by Lori Grenier works well for a few pieces. I keep my "go to" earrings in one similar.
