Care of the Gold Clad

Hi Everyone- since gold clad is so fragile, do any of you keep it in a seperate jewelry box? I understand that gold clad may wear off, or "thin" over time, so I just wondered what your experience with it was.

I had a gold clad necklace years ago, and after wearing it almost everyday for 2 years, the gold clad wore off.

Just wondered what your experience was and how you manage your gold clad.
