Can anyone identify this stone?

I am guessing its some sort of agate but maybe not? It is marked ATI 925 Mexico on reverse.

It looks like a moss agate of some kind.

Could be the darkest shade of picture jasper.

is it brown?  From the picture is is not very attractive at all...

Great suggestions! Might just call it "natural opaque brown stone with black flecks" and be done with it!

I like to try and guess at gemstones.  I have no idea what this one is though, it's not attractive in the photo, wish I could see it in person.
