Can anyone explain this?

I've never seen this before @ bayside - instead of the bidders 'initials', this is what it said (and there were several of them) under different pieces of jewelry for a particular seller:

private listing - bidders' identities protected

Really? Now you can bid without even showing your initials? I know the initials don't 'tell' who you are, but you can click onto them and see how many items they've bought and in what dept. It makes me wonder if they are just driving the price up for the seller?
