Can a 14K gold hoop earring be fixed?

I have a pair of 14K, 2 inch, hoop earrings.  I really like them because they don't have that stabilizer bar, and I like the shape of the hoop.  I would guess to describe them as maybe square tubing.

I have no idea what happened, but one of them has a bend in the middle of the circle.  I would like the shape to be the perfect original circle!  Not to mention I bought them quite awhile ago and don't want to pay today's price!  I cannot seem to find the shape again either.  Could be just not seeing it from photos.

Can a jeweler bend them back into shape?

@hyacinth003  I think that your hoop earring could be repaired by a jeweler.  I recommend bringing them into a local jeweler that you trust and they'll be able to take a look and give you an estimate for how long it will take and how much it will cost.  I don't think it will be too expensive to repair and I think you're making the right decision to go the repair route rather than trying to replace the earrings that you treasure. Smiley Happy

If they are hollow maybe not. Worth a try.

@hyacinth003 You may want to look for a goldsmith to repair your earring. My jeweler is a goldsmith who makes custom jewelry. His work is beautiful, but costly!

So, you may want to get an estimate for the repair. It might be less expensive to buy a new pair!

Best of luck!

I have a pair of hollow round 14k gold hoops I bought 25+ years ago from HSN and paid less than $100 for them.  They are the perfect shape and size.  Somehow, one of mine got a dent in them, so I can only wear them when my hair is down to hide the dent.  I have read that hollow earrings can't be repaired.  If yours are hollow, and you find out that they CAN be repaired, please tag me and let me know!

Yes.  A jeweler could hammer and polish it back into shape.  Unless it is too thin (or hollow as someone else said) and hammering would break it.

You might be able to sell the gold and buy a new pair.  I have lots of 14k in varierty of sizes and none have that stabilzation bar.  So they are out there.

I've had various repairs done on jewelry and each time my jeweler lets me know what can be done and the cost.  I would take the piece to a local store that does repairs for an estimate.

@hyacinth003   I think a jeweler can return the shape, but if it is bent, the tubing will probably still show a dent.  To know for sure, need to take it to a jeweler and ask.  But if there is a dent, I don't think they can be removed, they would have to be melted and redone.  I have some bangles with dents, and they can't be fixed.  If you post a picture and tell us the size, maybe people can help you find a replacement.

If it is the finding that you like, you can probably have that removed and put in another pair of hoops.  It will be pricy.

A jeweler can fix it.
