Does anyone own either of these pieces?

There have been mixed reviews on the abalone and the coloring.

I have owned the pendant and the earrings for some time and apparently got lucky. I ordered the ring and it is lovely. But many other people have gotten terrible abalone. and posted their rejects on the Bixby Designs facebook page. QVC sources the gems and has the pieces manufactured. They are apparently cutting corners in the production and sourcing for many jewelry lines. That is a shame.

i recieved the "large" paisley ring 2 wks. ago. i knew it was large but i just had to see in person so what the heck i'd just be out return postage. no,no it's not going back! it's really pretty. I just have to have a bigger attitude to wear it. So far if i had a $1 for every compliment i've had, the ring would be paid for. My abalone was a little on the dark side but i was afrraid if i send back i might get worse. There's not much the same quality jewelry you can get for this price in todays world.

I like some of her designs, but must say that I just don't get the skulls. I saw the watch that was presented, then they had a closeup and I could see the skull carved into the face of the watch and just thought "ugh!". I was at the Lancaster outlet awhile ago and saw a couple pieces with the skulls and thought that they would have been beautiful pieces of jewelry except for that. Does it mean something?

I heard Barbara Bixby explain on a recent show that many of her designs have a spiritual dimension, and that the skull motif has to do with the soul and immortality. I've seen skulls incorporated in a number of jewelry and accessory designs recently; I personally don't care for it, either.
