Are peridot and iolite really that expensive?

Hi ladies, Can anyone offer any info on the price of peridot and iolite? I have the topaz three stone band ring that is around $170 (j281387) and like it very much. I was looking forward to the peridot and iolite versions this visit, but am a bit shocked by the prices of $619 (j288076) and $691 (j288075). I am especially surprised when one pair of earrings is $354 and the other is $675. Am I missing something? Oftentimes when gemstone choices are offered, they come in topaz, garnet, amethyst, citrine or peridot, so I am really confused by the pricing. Any input we be appreciated. Thanks
