The last couple of 14k gold chains I've purchased have been very irritating on my neck. I couldn't even stand them for 15 minutes. Have any of you had this trouble lately?

I wear a medical id on a gold chain without any irritation. This is an older 14k gold. Is your chain one of the newer ones with different alloys? Could that be irritating you? Do you have any skin tags that may bother you? Any other chains or necklaces that you wear without discomfort?

I have that issue with certain types of chain links. I returned J285373 because the chain was irritating my neck. The thinness of the links and the style of chain also makes them very sharp. I also had some issues with the chain on J289588 and decided to have my jeweler change the chain. Both were generic open link chains. The thinness of the links was like having sharp fingernails grating against my throat and collarbone.

I haven't disappeared! It is the chains themselves that seem to have sharp edges, especially the ones I've gotten recently. It could be the type of link, the thinness of the gold, or the lack of polishing the chain by the maker. I wish I had the item numbers of the ones that bother me. Thanks, everyone, for your input!
