Thank you all so much for your comments. Some of you have such a good sense of humor! And I am that kind of person that also says "wear what you like". I guess lately age is starting to get to me and I don't want to be put into a certain age bracket. I'm very young inside and look young. I was starting to just feel like I'd look older if these pieces where not being worn anymore. I never see the younger girls wearing them. Thanks for answering my questions. If gemstones are worn, then I will wear them and enjoy them. I honestly don't want to look out of the loop. When you feel thirty and are twenty years older then that, it's hard to be looked at as different then you feel if that makes any sense.
My wedding ring is a solitaire platinum ring and diamond band. Very classic. I love classic clothes and jewelry and decor actually. I love antiques. But when it came to buying some new jewelry on a whim actually, I just got to thinking about it all.
queendiva- Your right about the choice I made in the heart ring. I love pink, but just wasn't sure about this ring. I did like it a lot in the store, but I think my worries were also brought on maybe by thinking if I wear such a ring, I will look even older because it wasn't 'hip'. Thank you all again. On go the rings!

Just a quick note- I love the Levian line of rings. Expensive, but I have noticed them for awhile now and I want to get one. The rose gold and chocolate diamonds are so pretty. As are others they have. BTW, I have a lot of jewelry but am one of those people that tends to grab the same thing that is lying around because I'm in a hurry. I love looking at it but am not really a jewelry nut. Handbags have been my thing for awhile now along with clothes and home decor over jewelry. I had never gone into a jewelry store before and bought my own ring. This was the first time. I was with a friend. Most of my jewelry has been bought at QVC. My currant fave ring is the Affinity silver Angel Wings. I'm going to wear the new light blue vintage looking ring next to that.

Gemstones are always in. Gemstones are forever.

I don't think gemstone rings are out. I have several that I wear all the time. My hubby got me a Levian chocolate diamond ring for Christmas and you better believe I am going to wear it!!

How could emeralds, rubies, sapphires, etc, ever be "out"?

Depends where you shop, here probably because they have to sell things at a certain price. Real jewelry stores, jewelry district no

Congrats on your new rings. I don't think you can use QVC as a barometer of current trends in jewelry. Their narrow pricing limits on jewelry keeps their designers limited on metals, gems and creativity.
There are many new designs in the jewelry market currently shown in B&M stores which are not remotely similar to things for sale here. Many of us love genuine antique jewelry and we are not alone. There are forums of current brides looking for victorian, edwardian, art nouveau and art deco rings that were previously worn for their special ring.
As for gemstone rings, while I agree, styles for lets say the 1970-80's may look out dated to some, they may look new to "girls" too young to remember these styles existed. Just finding rings well built in cast 14k of 18k is a real plus these days. Enjoy your rings and wear them in good health.
