Any tips for selling fine jewlery?

I brought several beautiful 14k and 18k gold pieces of jewelry of my late mother's to a good

jeweler. Some items had diamonds, and the 18k piece was a MONSTER thick bangle with exquisite carved scroll work in gold on the top. The jeweler gave me what I considered low prices ($1800 for the bangle ) and told me they were certainly worth more. I refused his offer for all the pieces.

Any tips on where to go to sell fine jewelry? I am not understanding the 'investment jewelry'

term.
