I recently purchased a JAI ring (396254). I had a feeling it was a return because I ordered it on waitlist and it went in process the next day. Long story short, the ring arrives and it is huge. Not a matter of it running big, just wrong-size huge (actually measured it and it was a size larger than I ordered.) It arrived in the little plastic bag with the size on it, which stated it was the size I ordered. Clearly somewhere along the line the ring was returned in the wrong bag and has probably been sent out and returned more than once. Why when jewelry is returned is there not someone making sure sizes of rings, bracelets, necklaces and anything else that comes in a size, are correct?
This really annoys me. I would have preferred an exchange but opted for a refund because I'm not doing this again. It's too time consuming and too frustrating to make sure they have refunded my purchase correctly.

This can happen anywhere. I can't tell you how many times over the years I've seen mis-marked clothes in B&M stores too. People are human and mistakes are made. Be kind.

I don't think it's a matter of kindness to be annoyed when sizing is wrong in anything, clothing or jewelry. It's a real problem and occurs way too often. I had the same issue with a JAI ring a couple years ago. I ordered a size 7 which I normally can wear on my middle finger, it was so tight I couldn't get it over my knuckle and my knuckles are not big.
I kept the ring becasue it sold out but was disappointed, as it also doesn't fit my ring finger very well. I resorted to putting it on a chain as it was the breast cancer ring he designed.

@faeriemoon : sounds like someone may have ordered two rings to see which size fit best, and returned ring B in ring A's bag, so the warehouse figured ring A was the one returned.
That's only one reason why I do not order any jewelry at any price . That, plus prices and selection happen to be a lot better locallly. In fact, I have gone a bit crazy and purchased 3 rings locally this week from 3 different sources: a costume ring from a consignment shop, an "estate" ring from a jewelry store at the mall and one through FB marketplace that I had verified for quality at the jewelry store.

@queendiva I think that's exactly what happened.
Enjoy your purchases; they sound lovely. It's so much fun to wear a new piece of jewelry.

I once had this happen with a turquoise line bracelet back when prices were still reasonable. It was on waitlist and it took weeks to show up. I wear a medium and my heart fell when the bracelet turned out to be a small. Back it went and to this day I don't have a turquoise line bracelet. I don't hold the returns dept at fault, they would have to look up each individual item to verify the measurements. Rings? Perhaps keeping a ring sizer handy would avoid disappointment when it gets sent out again. Quite frankly if the customer notes the item is the wrong size the item should be sent to a "resolution desk" and remarked.

@CalminHeart What does "kind" have to do with being bothered about a return????? She didn't say anything mean or nasty.

@faeriemoon completely agree with your feelings. When you purchase something new (especially a piece of jewelry) you look foward to it... and then when something like this happens, it a huge disappointment. I agree that mistakes happen, but something like this should have been caught.

Did I say she wasn't kind? She's irritated, which I totally understand. My comment was more to realize that stuff happens everywhere.

She said she is annoyed, not irritated. It is not nice generally to push people's buttons even more when they express frustration over someone else mistake. Returns takes weeks in order to recieve a refund. With original shipping, and return shipping time and waiting time, it is often over a month. Most people would be annoyed.
