They have nice pieces. You might try them at Macy's or Penneys. I get e-mails from them, and recently they advertised that they are the official jewelers for Downton Abbey. Especially the opera length necklaces. I like that art deco look at a reasonable price.

Hi All, interesting discussion. In my heyday as an antiques dealer I used to buy and sell marcasite from the turn of the last century. (1890 - 1910) The marcasite stones were called "poor man's" diamonds. I loved to wear them and they went for quite a bit of money because they were sterling, and often set with real beautiful cameos (not plastic), real pearls, and gem stones - like lapis and and garnets. I still have a few pieces which I treasure. The design of the 1928 products were based on these early marcasite pieces and I thought they did a nice job. None were sterling though at least that I can remember just some kind of mystery metal. I have a Brighton mystery metal bracelet that has held up beautifullly.

A word of caution, when you go for rings or bracelets, take them off before you wash your hands. Water is a killer on marcasite, they tend to fall out easily off their settings.

Haca, I love marcasite and wear it all year long. I have a few nice pieces from the Suspicion brand at the Q.

Good for you, bird mama! It's great to hear from another admirer of marcasite jewelry. I'll have to check out that brand you mention. My older pieces are in the art nouveau and the later ones in the art deco style. I had one with a double-face cameo that I unfortunately sold, lol. But that's ok, CP and AW have taken over. Mine were mostly pins which I used to wear high up on my suits. Now it's jeans and t-shirts. Smile

I loved this brand back.in the 90s. I still have some earrings. They look nice, but are a bit tarnished. I've seen it in Macy's labeled 2028 now.

I still have a few pieces from the 90's. I love that antique style! They are still in good shape.

I also miss Suspicion marcasite. Still have a few pieces. Very nice.
