What exactly is 14K yellow gold electroformed? Is is real gold? Is is gold plated? And what is resin filled? Thanks

You can Google for all the answers.

14K gold is 58.5% gold.

Electroform is a wax form for gold; the wax is drained from the final product.

Resin gold -- same idea, but they leave the resin inside.

Old electroform pieces did not need any resin or silicon. They were sturdy and hefty without any ""back bone"". I have electroform earrings that are hollow inside and weigh 12-15 grams. Today they would cost $$$$$. The resin stuff is totally different. it's more like a gold foil wrapped around plastic material.

I have a couple of electroform pieces from years ago and they are sturdy and heavy. Today's electroform is much lighter and needs to inner filling....resin, silicone, or whatever.

Oro Nuovo is less gold than electroform....I consider it gold clad.

I had ordered an oro Nuevo bangle last summer but it really felt like plastic so I returned it. There is something about it that doesn't feel right. For me it felt as if the resin was on the outside covering the gold foil on the inside.

I agree They have been making electroform for many, many years. The older ones were much sturdier.

I have six Oro Nuovo bracelets on now and they feel and look good! Since QVC has introduced them, I have become spoiled with their light weight. I can wear these all day and night with ease. I rarely wear those old heavy gold bracelets, and if I do, it is for an event, and as soon as I get home off they come. You have to decide what is most important for you.

It's important to me that I am not tricked into thinking the jewelry I buy is more than what it really is. Oro nuovo is gold CLAD. Bronzo - well, don't get me started. Who on earth thought these ideas up is brilliant - they are successfully tricking people into thinking they are wearing the 'real' thing. I can't believe the prices they are charging for this fakery. It's like paying $700 for Judith Ripka silver and DIAMONIQUE. I'd rather not have it if it has to be fake.

I don't think people are tricked. People have different value systems, what is important to one group may not be important to another group. There are segments of the female population who love Ripka and really enjoy her jewelry. And cost is not an issue of importance to them. They simply love it and they buy it. That is it. I think QVC attempts to reach different segments of the market by offering a wide variety of jewelry products. Somewhere in their offerings, there might be something you would like that pleases your particular taste in jewelry.
