I once had a doctor want to run a blood test for anemia "because you're so pale."  Ha, that's the color of my skin, idiot! Seriously, I think the OP does have a point in that Mally should have used a neutral word like "pale."  Pasty definitely has negative connotations. I'm seriously white and look a LOT better with some makeup and blush.  Gotta love those German/Irish ancestors!

I have very dark hair and wish I had pale skin--I think the contrast is gorgeous.  Just like Megan Fox when she had dark hair .  
My skin is a weird pinkish light olive color.  Not good
