We have a place here that advertised them. We just bought a new LG washer and dryer but I looked at them to see what the big deal was. They are much to small for my liking. I don’t want to do more loads. Plus I like modern features. I know Speed Queens last for 25 years and features are just more things to break but I like new and improved.

Speed Queen top loaders come in different tub size capacities.  So, you can do very large loads.  They also have the best warranty and are built to last.  For me personally,  since washers are not a part of my home decor and are generally behind closed doors or in a place not exposed to company, I'm not interested in fancy.  I'm interested in the clothes getting as clean as possible.

I was looking for a new washer where I could control the amount of water needed for a load of clothes. SQ is one of the last ones out there where this is possible so I bought a new washer and dryer this year. So far they are what I expected. They are also manufactured in the US and DO have one of the best warranties.

I can easily wash and dry a queen sized down comforter, with room to spare, in both my Speed Queen washer and dryer. Definitely one of the best choices I've ever made!

I TOTALLY agree with you!  I couldn't care less what a washer/dryer looks like, & I certainly don't want anything computerized. SQ offers you the option to NOT have bells & whistles. The new washers, dryer, toilets, dishwashers, etc. are GARBAGE. When I spend my money, I don't want it to break in a couple of years.

Everything "new" I've purchased (I tried to buy the best), has been a moneypit.

Fyi, the new fancy washers DO NOT get your clothes clean. How can they, when they use such a small amount of water? Same with most new toilets.....GARBAGE!

I only want simple, effective, well-built long-lasting appliances- period.

Just my two cents

I don't like to do super large loads, but I do like to be able to wash blankets.

My Kenmore top load with nothing fancy, not digital, is 15 years old and I've only had 1 repair and I did  it myself.

The first washer I ever purchased had all the bells and whistles!   No electronics and it was great but I didn't need all the fancy stuff.  (like variable water level)

The one I have now has 4 water levels, 3 speeds and works great.

I'm 64, if I buy a Speed Queen now, I need to put it in my will!

Re: speed queen

[ Edited ]

EPA ruling will apply to Speed Queen in Jan 2018 so change is coming to  all the washers they sell. I was told that the dial washer will no longer be sold by a dealer & the models available in that style has changed from 3 to 1 but could not get Speed Queen to confirm the dial model will no longer be sold in a phone call today. I have an older model & want a backup in case the dial & a full tub of water is going away. If anyone has additional info about changes coming to SQ I'd like to know, TIA.
