In the 1990s My style was country and I bought many Peterboro baskets especially the magazine ones because they are big. Now I am slowly replacing them with VPH's ottomans. They have a lid which put the clutter out of sight. At least it cuts eye clutter.

darhling I cannot take all the clutter .I do a trick and once I touch it i file or I have it put into the trash.
I did collect globes for many years the world over in my second marriage and those I adore as well as the memories.
I do get alergic to ink in news papers so I do not have that problem and my tv tells me when my shows are on.
I at 81 am not aware of the ottomans you speak of . I do have a few things I hid prior to a visit but in all I enjoy my surroundings.
I must go look . Honey have a lovley day

Yes, i agree that closed inside ottomans would make things appear neater - however - I have one of those in our camper and it does tend to get very full of items that really should be trash - so I made a point of going through it and cleaning it out every week on the day I dusted and scrubbed floors. Otherwise - the mess may be hidden but it is still a mess.

ROFL. Thanks. Take a look. Free S&H so I just ordered another. QVC ships ""offshore non priority"" to Alaska even though we have USPS. Takes a long time and twice what you all pay.

Good choice! I like the storage ottomans very much. My mom has some baskets in her house and I see them as huge dust collectors because of all the nooks and crannies in the weave. My dust allergy cannot abide! The ottomans have straight sides and edges and are easier to vacuum. I also feel like they're less fragile than baskets, which I'm afraid to get too aggressive on with the vacuum.

That's a great tip for any storage item!

Remember , too many storage ottomans is just another form of clutter.

Yes, the baskets do get dusty are fragile. I have tossed a couple because DH accidently kicked it and broke it.

The number of ottomans isn't necessarily indicative of clutter, but what is in them (even just one) can be. If they are being used to store necessary things, and used for multiple purposes, that doesn't constitute clutter.
I have purchased a number of these for the exact purpose the OP suggested. I can use them for triple functions. They are an ottoman, a covered and convenient storage place, and additional seating or table space (put together can make a coffee table type setting).
I have things that I need and will be keeping, no matter how I have to store them, so it makes sense to store them in something covered and functional. I have used them as follows.
First, I have, as OP has done, removed my magazine baskets and replaced them with these, that not only hold the magazines covered and dust free, but serve as a seat or in one case, an end table, as well.
I have placed one in front of a chair in the family room, making sitting and watching TV much more comfortable, as well as storing the throws we need in this room during the chilly weather, to be warm while relaxing.
I have placed a couple in our bedroom to store some books, and off season clothing. My husband needs long john shirts for work each winter (lots of them) and they were cluttering up the closet terribly. Now they are stored off season in the ottomans, handy but not cluttering the closet, while the ottomans function as a seat to use to put on socks and shoes.
Very functional and handy, because they can fold flat and be tucked away if you only need them on occasion.

Love my baskets, love my Valerie ottomans!
Valerie's ottomans are used for everything around here. We have the original, not the indoor/outdoor. We put blankets in so we can snuggle while watching TV; they hold cords, rechargers, and a few flashlights; one holds a Wii game (that no one plays much any longer; and each of us has one for our bedroom. DS' came in handy because he didn't have a stand by his bed. When he was home sick, I turned the top over and put everything he needed right there. When DS left for college last year, I used Valerie's tip and sent him with two - one in each of his school colors (I'm glad I could get those colors at the time; the indoor/outdoor ones don't come in those colors.). DD has the original denim blue color - it's beautiful!
