persil laundry detergent

i have been hereing about persil and been bying to try it and see if it works so much better than all the rest. got a sample in the mail and used it on a load that a few things were dirty from being in the garden and i sprayed them with shout out and shirt didnt come clean so persil is no better than any other brands.

I tried the sample also and found it to be too "perfumy" smelling for me!

Hi pooky1,

Persil used to be around years ago in Great Britain and it was considered to be the best laundry detergent at that time. I recall my Mum using it and saying it was excellent and it made my Father's shirts really white and bright. (Could be she just boiled the living daylights out of them too).

When I move to the USA people told me that Tide was the best here and I have used that ever since. I have never tried the Persil here but have seen it for sale in the supermarket. Sorry to hear it did not work, but it did bring back memories for me!!

I bought it last year when they had a coupon out for several dollars off, no better than any other brand. I do like Peter Hermann on the ads, and there is a coupon in tomorrow's paper.

I use Kirkland laundry detergent but tried Persil when I received a sample. I saw no difference.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

I've bought the small size at Wal-Mart just to try. It is expensive. I have found it to be excellent as a stain remover, but I don't use it to do an entire load. I just wet the stain on my shirt, pour a bit of Persil on the stain, and then work it into the clothes.

I tried it, and liked it, but now I'm using Nellie's Laundry Soda. That bucket is so big, it'll last me into 2018!

Water has a big impact on the laundry detergents we use, and the level of clean we get from them.

Going back 40 years ago to when we had hard well water that contained a high level of iron, I only used Rinso and Oxydol powdered detergent, since both seemed to clean our colored clothes well with the recommended amount. I remember great disappointment with All, and Tide was too expensive for my budget at that time. When I took baby clothes and white clothes to the laundromat, I had to be mindful to reduce the amount of detergent, because the water there was soft and sudsed much easier.

Now that I'm on public water, and have a HE washer, my favorite detergents are Purex, Era, Tide Clean, and Arm and Hammer. This time of year we have algae bloom in the lake that supplies our water, so more chemicals are being added at the treatment plant, which affects the soap in my dishwasher, and my laundry.
