Cute, but not practical.

Have a pedestal sink. Its my only choice.
No room for a big base cabinet, which would also cover the restroom heat register. But a large closet was built into my bathroom, and gives me 3 times the storage space a vanity base would. My father designed and built three-tiered shelves that fit perfectly in the corners, making a place for tissues, lotion, etc.

Re: pedestal sinks

[ Edited ]

We are in the "planning phase" of redoing our basement.  And, we're going to add a powder room.  It will probably have a pedestal sink because we are limited in space due to the configuration of our plumbing.  And, we don't want to pay a lot of money for a plumber to come in and jackhammer the floor to extend the sewer line.

However, we will have room to install a closet or have a hutch of some sort, for storage, across from the sink and toilet.

We are putting new flooring in the half bath down stairs. We ripped out the cabinet sink and are going to put in a pedistal sink. But we have two cabinets above the washer and dryer in the half bath so a cabinet sink isn't necessary.  It's going to make the bathroom look so much bigger.

I think a pedestal sink is perfect for a guest 1/2 bath or powder room. If it's not a main  or family bathroom or on-suite than I don't think all your personal items, cleaning, or back-up supplies should be in there.

if you have a pedestal sink in half bath, do you like it ? Why yes or why no, thank you

@who...In our previous home, we had a pedestal sink in our half bath and it was perfect there, as it was a small room, so it was really the best alternative...It didn't even have a shower...just the toilet and sink and I put in a decorative vanity table...It was a "powder room" only...Our full bath was on the second level.

If your half bath has room for a vanity, than I would definitely go with that rather than a pedestal sink.

We are now in a home where we have two full baths and it is luxury!

Yes, in my powder room.  Make the room (which is small) seem larger, it's sleek, clean and there's no clutter in there. I prefer that look for a powder room.
