microwave oven color options

The over the range microwave died and needs replacing. Our appliances are bisque which is getting harder to find. The current microwave is black, the cabinets are light oak, the black really stands out. Would a stainless microwave look odd with the cabinets and appliances? There are just a few bisque microwaves available and I am not sure if we should go that route or not, due to the lack of options in bisque. I suspect as these 18 year old appliances die we will have to go with white replacements. I am not a fan of stainless steel refrigerators. The microwave does not get heavy duty use, mainly the standard reheating food, frozen foods, tea and "baking" taters so I am not considering expensive microwaves.

Bisque is a color that is hard to find. It you are happy with it and can find it then all your appliances will match. Otherwise you may want to switch to a new color when you have to replace others eventually. I like black appliances rather than stainless because of finger prints. I had the same issue a few years ago. We had bisque though I called it cream. Eventually we replaced with black as the appliances died. Except for the stove which we sold with a newspaper ad. Just replace with a color that makes you pleased. White is an excellent choice & it will always be popular.

If you're going with white when you replace appliances, I'd consider getting the replacement microwave in white and living with the difference between bisque and white for the time being.

I think if the rest of the appliances are nearing replacement, get the new color all of them will eventually be. If they aren't near replacement, I'd get bisque. My appliances are eight years old and bisque. When they die, I will be looking for bisque. When I bought the stove and fridge, bisque was hard to find. I kept looking because the builder had put in bisque microwave, dishwasher and sink.

Same thing happened to me and I am replacing my bisque with white as the die. So far I have a white stove and micro and will be getting a white refrigerator next month. It's even hard to find white; everything in the stores is stainless which I don't like. It's too bad about the bisque as it was a great color.

Yeah, it's amazing that if you want a white appliance you have to special order it! I have all white appliances in my kitchen. A few years ago when I was looking for a new microwave I had to special order the one I wanted in white. Stainless and black I could have walked out with but not white. Love my white though. Smile

Me too. I love the Nostalgia Electrics Retro Red Microwave, but they are not powerful enough. I want at least 1000 watts and they are less than that Smiley Sad

The RCA RMW1112 is red and has 1000 watts. Check out the reviews at Walmart.com and Amazon.com. 8)

Re: microwave oven color options

I think you should decide what color you are going with as the other appliances need replaced and start on that with the new microwave. I have always bought white appliances -don't like SS - too industrial, and I am a cheapskate - the white is free - you have to pay for colors.
