kitchen and living room DIVIDER

What would be the best way to divide the kitchen and the living room without actually putting a wall? In that way, if I am in the kitchen, I would still be able to see the living room.

I want something that would not occupy too much space and still look good.

Help, please. Any ideas? Thanks!

I bought a hanging wall panel from a company named Wall Pops, I was also looking for a divider of sorts and came across these and they work perfectly

Hmmmm....consider Soji screens-but there are so many ideas there-I am not merely talking about the classic black lacquer Asian type....there are all sorts of things you can do with them to match your decor.....

If you want light and airy looks, consider looking in the garden shops at the trellises they offer: you could go for wood....or wrought iron.....

There are a couple of catalogues worth looking at either for inspiration or purchase such as Front Gate....or Fresh Finds....I am sure Wayfair has a selection....by all means check out craft stores like Michael's: one year I saw a Soji made from vines that I was wild about: I just didn't know where to put it.

If you go with this idea, I would love to see pictures!

Put up a ceiling track, and hang 96" sheers.     Of course, due to cooking "vapors"...........they will need to be washed OFTEN, but you can rehang them straight from the washer.    With the track, you will have the option of opening and closing the curtains as you need.

How about a sofa table or a buffet table, a narrow in depth open bookshelf, a floor lamp with either a set of stacked baskets or trunks next to it, a stained glass framed piece (or, pieces) hung from the ceiling...

Hippy Beads - kidding of course,  just HAD to throw that in there 😉! Happy decorating!

Usually open concept homes have an island between the kitchen and the living areas. Or you could put a half wall.

Re: kitchen and living room DIVIDER

I'm a big fan of a floor screen panel. There are so many unique designs available. My other thought is an island (w/locking casters) or a long cabinet/buffet. I'm a big fan of the home re-do programs and they seem to do a lot with reclaimed door panels and frosted glass but that look requires some construction. It all depends on how much you want to close off.

We have a bedroom suite that is our guess room and I wanted to close off the the archway between the double bedroom areas for privacy. It's an older home so we have some unique room designs. I did multiple sets of lovered doors to close off the space between  them. This worked well for our needs.

It all depends on the look that you want, your budget and your time.

I, very much, have an open floor plan. My kitchen and great room are really all one room. I can't say that I do anything specific to make sure my dining room, kitchen and great room are divided off. Just by the way I decorate and furniture I use will define what room is what. No one has ever been confused where they are in my home.

I have an open concept home.

What divides spaces is the furniture placement and rugs.
