I have a piece of art that is a printed or painted fabric.  I would like to "seal" the fabric to help it repel dirt.

Is there a spray I could lightly apply or something like a mod podge ?

Frankly I would get it framed behind glass. Fabric sealed with Modge Podge still gets dusty - remember the stiffy bows from the 90's that we decorated basket handles with? Cute but still required dusting maintenance🙂 Perhaps a really narrow frame would set it off but be relatively unobtrusive and the glass would also preserve the piece. Just a thought.

@SCshopper2

It is a large piece that is mounted to a thick 2 1/2 inch canvas  frame.

@SCshopper2   You could stretch your fabric over canvas stretchers from an artist supply store then spray with polyurethane spray which would protect it and all I w for wiping with a damp cloth for cleaning.

You don't say what its being used for now, if anything.

If it is something precious, framing it and putting it behind glass would be the "safe" bet.  If not, then Mod Podge or Krylon may be good choices!

If the piece is as pictured, there are several ways of coating.

I have never been able to use a brush without marks, but sprays work.

Coating will "destroy" the fabric as fabric of course.

My niece paints canvas sneakers and she seals them with Modge Podge Acrylic Sealer.
