Has anyone ever used a duvet cover without the inside I fell in love but would love the lightness of it without a comforter

I haven't but would think it would be very hard to keep it smooth.

I do. It has gotten to be too much effort to get my king size comforter into the cover so I just lay the cover on top of the comforter. I think because the duvet is double it also provides extra warmth so even without a comforter inside it would be useful.

I used mine as my Summer bed cover. Loved it!

Having literally just finished struggling to get the down insert into our duvet cover -- it sounds like a great idea to me!!

Yes! I too struggle with getting my down comforter in the duvet so decided to not put myself through the aggravation anymore. I purchased a Nate Berkus Duvet set that's a creamy white 100 % cotton (which I love anything cotton) and it's comfy and cozy and looks and lays just fine. HTH ![]()

I always the cover by itself in the summer as it is too hot to use the duvet.

Without a comforter insert, it would serve the function of a coverlet. One of the down blankets would be perfect as a lighter weight filler for a duvet.

I watched a duvet cover hack where the woman demonstrated getting the comforter inside without a great deal of difficulty.
I think she turned the duvet inside out and laid it ontop of the comforter. She then rolled the comforter into the duvet.
Go on You Tube and see if the video is there. It looked a lot easier than the way I was doing it!

This definitely requires more than one person to accomplish (!!) but it is soooo much easier........ Turn the duvet inside out and roll it top down to the bottom; then holding the duet's bottom two corners grab onto the "filler" bottom corners; and then just "roll" the duvet up (you'll now be turning it back rightside out) to the top. Works like a charm, without aggravation.
@mollymaggie; if it's the weight you don't want, try the duvet cover with a lightweight quilt inside, or a blanket, or any other lightweight bed covering. Or, as others suggested, I'd just use it alone if you love the look!
