I bought a cotton blanket a few years back. It shed so much in the washer, it got lint all over the other items in the wash and since I don't have a lint filter in the washer, I wound up having to get a new washer. Everything after that load had lint on it. I still want a cotton blanket for summer, but every one I look at has reviews that say it sheds lots of lint--even the expensive ones. What to do? A quilt is too heavy for summer. Does anyone have a nice cotton blanket that hasn;t shed?

No, I own many cotton blankets and bathroom rugs. They all shed when first washed. Cotton sheds. After a few washes, it slows down.
You might be able to find a very thin cotton quilt with only a thin layer of fiberfill. I have several of them too. They don't shed like a cotton blanket does.

I use the flat micro fleece sheet from a set from QVC. When Linen Source went out of business, I bought a woven cotton blanket which I'm going to use this summer. Knit cotton blankets are very common and I've had them, but in a matter of a few days my dogs and their toenails snag and ruin the blanket.

I have been looking for a cotton blanket also. Many customer reviews state the quality is lacking.
The search continues.

I have a nice woven cotton blanket that I bought from Sears about nine years ago. It's made in the US from US grown cotton. The dryer's lint screen collects a good amount of lint, but I've never had a problem with shedding. Unfortunately, they stopped carrying it.
I'm think if you find a made in US blanket, the quality will be better. Do a web search for made in US cotton blanket. They're out there.

I've gotten cotton blankets in the past from Penneys that were good quality but it was several years ago but you might give them a look.

I just bought a new woven cotton blanket from Evine. It's the best cotton blanket I've ever had. All cotton blankets shed, especially when they are brand new and when they get washed the first few times. But this one had minimal shedding! The customer reviews are so good...17 5-star reviews. I bought the one pictured here in pink.

I think a all cotton quilt is best.

Yes, I do, too. You can find thin quilts with a thin layer of cotton batting so it won't be any heavier than a cotton blanket. Country Door catalog has some beautiful summer weight cotton quilts.
Or, perhaps a cotton flannel blanket. Northern Nights used to have wonderful cotton flannel blankets, but not anymore. I am still using one that I bought from QVC over 10 years ago.
The Vermont Country Store has cotton blankets, too.
I think cotton blankets that are made in Portugal are excellent quality, also.
I can't use knitted blankets, either, because my dog's nails snag them! I also find that knitted cotton blankets seem to stretch out of shape.
