I don't have a dish washer...so my dishes are washed one at a time under continuing running water...then put on a dish drainer to air dry...

Been doing them this way for years and years...

I have a dishwasher but for the past ten+ years this is how I do it as well and just put the dishes to air dry in the top rack of the dishwasher.  I basically use my dishwasher for the storage of items I use every day for preparing my lunch and dinner.  Since I live alone I do not see the point in wasting water for the dishwasher.  I do try to run it every six months or so to make sure it still works.

EVERYTHING goes in dishwasher except the paper plates we use most nights.  Life is too short to stand at the sink all night.
