I had been only buying my jar candles at Yankee Candle stores because I found that the other stores that carry them the scents are not as strong. Also found the same with ordering from them online. But lately even buying from the store the throw is not like it used to be.

Thanks Topaz. I think I need some summer scents. I have a ton of jars and just stocked up on wax melts last month.

Since I have so many issues with scents (headaches) before I buy a large size, I buy one of the tarts and give it a test. Saves a lot of time returning candles that don't work for me.

I have had such awful experiences with Yankee candles lately. They smell slightly when I start burning them, and then they lose all smell after that. Plus, the amount of black smoke that comes off them seems worse than ever!

I have switched over to the three-wick Bath and Body Works candles. I like those so much better!

Yankee Candles' home office and enormous store with many rooms is in Western Massachusetts. My guess is the store used to be 85% candles and 15% other. One entire room was devoted to votive candles where you would walk around with an egg carton like container and make your scent/color selections. The last few times I have been in the store more and more of their space is devoted to clothing, kitchen items, garden, furniture, Christmas, food, etc. I would guess the percentages have completely reversed. Perhaps all the flameless candles have seriously cut into the candle business. That would be my guess. A few years ago they attempted a bacon scent candle. I was in the store and the clerk approached me and asked what I thought about it. It was horrible! She said all the staff would agree with you and all the customers also.
