Oh Oznell my son that passed had a pewter collection. It was a large collection. We shared pieces with family and friends. The rest we sold to his online friend. They met through Ebay. I see some of his pewter online. We knew he would keep his favorites and sell the rest on Ebay. My favorites are all over our house. Many memories.

I like to mix metals because when/if I find something I like I know I can add it to my home.
I prefer brushed /matte metals over shiny polished. I think they look richer and more interesting.

I prefer sterling silver or crystal candlesticks and pewter.
Our fawcets are brushed pewter.

Oh, thank you for sharing that precious family story with us, @Catiele. What a wonderful remembrance of your son, the whisper-soft subtlety of burnished pewter. How neat that he was a collector-- I always feel an affinity for others who appreciate pewter....

We all have our favorites in the decor department. While I do not have very much metal included in mine, I can appreciate your love for the look. The pictures bring out the beauty, not over done but standing out in the rooms.
Thanks for sharing this style, it is impressive.

I just know that he would be pleased that I shared this story. He also knew about you and your name. Cool he said.

@Oznell wrote:Of course, I don't need to say I like every single metal you all have mentioned! @sweetee2, I was forgetting about tin-- I also like its age and friendliness, have one piece of handsome "tole" from my sister...
@Kitlynn, a copper sink and tub, no less, seems to me the ultimate luxury-- how beautiful.
Forgot to mention that hammered metal, having that additional textural interest, is another favorite...
Thank You they really are. The kitchen sink is the hammered copper. The tub is smooth copper with mirror mosaic 1" tiles all around the outside. It is a slipper tub.

A few more images I found on the "Kuotes" site where I think they mixed warm, cool, and earthy metals really nicely. I'm finding it makes the rooms more visually interesting to me:

I pinned this picture a few years back and it has been my inspiration room for my living room. I have a fireplace centered two built in book cases. I love the gold mirror mixed with the wood. I like the way the softness of the sofa softens the room. The glass apothecary on the table and the chandelier keeps it flowing.
I’m not quite there yet with this look in my living room but it has give me something to build on.
Yes I love mixing of metals in my home and in jewelry.

Oh, @ladycos, I'm loving what you are loving about that charming room-- what a good inspiration you've chosen! It's elegant, but warm at the same time-- great combo, and one I'm always drawn to too.
