She'll have higher end stuff in the show. That video she posted on her Facebook page talking about decorating for a white Cnistmas had higher end products in it, including the porcelain sleigh and the Sequined and Glittered trees from last year's LR show. QVC knows that those higher end items sell out, so she'll be made to sell what they tell her to sell. Valerie will dominate the more home-spun type items, while the YHJ show will continue to spend the bulk of its time highlighting the TSV's. I have faith we'll get our fancy offerings back on Fridays. It will just seem a bit incongruous with Jill being the one selling them.

hi Peter I'm really hoping your right, it does make sense although like you wrote the items won't be presented the same , loved Lisa's presentations, say what they will about her she knew style and beautiful christmas decor. Hopefully we will see those elegant items such as that sleigh

@Hooty wrote:Even though I always enjoyed Lisa's shows, she was just way too "elegant" for my taste! I live in a modest house, not a page out of Southern Living or any other magazine, and I prefer more traditional and conservative decor, JMHO!
I like elements of both and really isn't that what is should be about... Choices, variety and not one way of doing things nor one host's taste and presentation style... I think all some folks are saying here is what many of us have been saying for some time. Instead of continuing to narrow their vision and approach, QVC would be well served to mix it up a bit more than they're doing.

Precisely. Even if they include an element of the more glamorous, having it presented by a host for whom it's clearly a disconnect is so not necessary. They have other hosts who would do a credible job and for whom it would not be perceived as a stretch. Too bad they choose not to use them.

I will be interested in seeing how the huge white set will be decked out for the holiday shows this year. When I watch, it looks like it's really difficult to fill up that huge set and have everything not look miniature and disjointed.
That is how I feel about the YHJ shows done on that set. The mantel or table may look great, but with the really wide shots, everything is just blah. When Lisa had her decorating shows there, the set was decked out over-the-top, but it really paid off, I think, because it is what the huge set needed.
Valerie's set is more cozy in appearance, and I guess that is why it appeals to me more, except when it is loaded up with too many shiny objects.
@SHOPR Well, if it's anything like Lisa Robertson's shows there will be several decorated trees around the set, no doubt done by Valerie and her team. It may look very much like it did before because LR said Valerie helped. That is if they devote the time and bring in the more upscale merchandise that Lisa showed us. But I'm afraid it will be just another YHJ with a few of those items sprinkled in. I guess we'll find out later in the season. I'm getting ready to do pumpkins and orange leaves in the next week or so.
@lucymo Hi LUCYMO---unfortunately Jill made the comment that LR's style wasn't her style.....so I think the more elegant and sophisiticated style will be thrown to the curb, in favor of more of Your Home With Jill style---- What a shame because I would like to see some different types of styles---It should be what the CUSTOMER wants, not what Jill likes .... shouldn't it??????????????
@Spurt, Hi Spurt, no doubt it will not matter what we want but in the end I won't be spending my money there. Pier One, Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, here I come and of course a host of online sites. I just can't see Jill Bauer presenting the kind of items that Lisa R. showed anyway. I'm probably pretty much done shopping for the holidays now. I have a few Harvest items on order but after that I think I'm done. Need to use what I have stored away and it's a lot. I could reasonably decorate the houses on my block. LOL How about you?
@lucymo Hi LUCYMO--- I just think it's sad, I have not been with QVC as long as many others, BUT I do remember when QVC was once a viable shopping option for home decor---really unique things, wonderful variety that I didn't find locally and maybe not the lowest prices, but not outrageous either. And the big BONUS that QVC utlized back then, but doesn't now, is their advantage of their TV Channel and giving us ideas on how to use their merchandise in your home decorating!!! Sadly, it now seems that all their home decor vendors make a variation of the same thing and QVC isn't using their ON AIR advantage very well (except for Valerie) JMHO!!!!
So now I do shop at all the wonderful retail stores you've mentioned and online retailers as well. I have my GO TO "staples" for my seasonal decorating, but there are always a few pieces that I decide to "retire" and donate them to local charities and pick up something new to add to my collections. And yes, I certainly concur I have enough Christmas decorations to decorate houses on both sides of the block---![]()

Now my harvest/autumn/Halloween has been kept in control and Easter/Spring is even more limited, although enough to give my home a new look to celebrate the changing of the seasons.....I'm not a summer person, so except for a couple of Jim Shore pieces I put out out for the 4th of July and a red & white flower arrangement that is it for summer decor!!! But it seems I am always on the look out for something new to add be it regular everyday home decor or a new holiday item....It just adds a refreshing change. And the ladies here always share some wonderful decorating ideas or make known some great retail options !
And they do it very well indeed LOL!

@Spurt Hi, this is definately not the place to be if you're trying to downsize your decor stash. I'll say I'm finished and then someone will mention an exceptionally nice piece and I have to go look and sometimes get to needing it too. LOL. Lots of good tips and helpful HU are here though.

QVC : Product DetailH20556919" Illuminated Wrought Iron and Wood Lantern by Home ReflectionsI almost ordered that one, BornToShop. It's not the same ol' lantern -- I like it! However, I spotted this one and purchased it:
H205575
I love that look & especially the no candle obligation. It is on my wishlist. If I don't like the one coming, it will be going & this one will be coming my way soon. Let me know how you like it when you get it!
BorntoShop -- this lantern is gorgeous! The photo does not do it justice! The iron twisting is so unique and beautifully done; it gives the lantern a lovely gracefulness. The flowers resemble a slight pineapple design. The description is true -- cannot use a candle larger than 3" diameter, but I think you can have it taller than 6" (flameless).

So, the preview for Wednesday's YHJ features H205566. I almost fell over when I saw that cornucopia. It looks like something from a monster movie. That is, hands down, the ugliest item I've ever seen on QVC. It made me want to take an antibiotic!

I agree with you. Why can't they have themed Christmas shows, like "a formal Christmas," or "Christmas at a log cabin," or shows like that?
Valerie is the true talented decorator IMHO. She could advise some of these behind the scenes. I'd like to see her more too, but she could present only her items.
I wish QVC had given her more harvest shows!
