We have an in ground pool. Switched to salt water about two years ago and have all new equipment. Started with a new pool service about 2 months ago. Since then, we've had 2 leaks (on equipment) and now the pump itself isn't sounding right. I hate myself for thinking this, but I just keep wondering if the new pool service is to blame? Would you be suspicious?
P.S. My husband has been trying to contact the guy who put in the new equipment for a week and he hasn't been responsive. He was never good about calling us back.

Yes, I'd be suspicious.

Definitely suspicious. I'd follow up on that suspicion.

Yes I would be suspicious too. I would see if the guy who installed it could take a look and hear what he has to say.

Yes.

I am wondering if it could be the salt water. We live on salt water and I know it corrodes, eats, and destroys everything.

Does this pool service company also sell new equipment?
Why did you switch to salt water?
Salt is bad for everybody and everything. Salt is known to rust and this week I had to have a bath sink metal mechanism (that pulls up to let water out / down to hold water) replaced. Plumber showed me said - rusted out.

Yes.

Salt water is damaging. The splashing of some water from our water softener caused metal to corrode.

I have had pools in every house I have lived in (have also put in a few) and no I wouldn't be suspicious. Most likely the pump is just defective, it happens. Why would the pool service sabotage the equipment when that would mean they wouldn't be able to do their job thus losing income.
