Re: Why is it so hard to find the right mattress?

The mattress companies and retailers deliberately make mattress-buying difficult by making it impossible to compare products from store to store by giving basically the same model different names. I can't think of any other industry that employs this dirty little trick. I don't know why the Federal Trade Commission doesn't crack down on them.

Kachina624 I did look into that. Normally you do but there are some conditions which does not seem to me to apply in this case. I made the purchase on July 7th but delivery was not made until July 17th! I totally agree with you that they employ this dirty little trick. This particular company has had 3 complaints resolved in the last 4 years via the Better Business Bureau but can't find the details on each complaint. I guess this dirty little trick is how they never have to price match because another retailer won't have the exact same name of the mattress.

Like AdoreQVC said, I get the best sleep on a latex mattress from the 1950's that belonged to my parents. Only thing is back then, full size beds were the norm so that doesn't give two people much room.

Re: Why is it so hard to find the right mattress?

About five years ago we got a sleep number. It's the best investment we've made in a while. I vary between 50 and 75 depending on the time of month or when old injuries flare up. It was a life saver when I had surgery and had to sleep differently than I normally do...I'm usually a stomach sleeper. While I was on my side, I was able to find the right support to help me sleep in that "unusual" position until I could get back on my stomach.

I bought several sets that were moved to guest rooms in short order. I purchased a sleep number 14 years ago and still love it. It's is adjustable so you can find the perfect comfort level

Tempur-pedic is what I swear by. The original model, on the platform, on the floor. No permanent indentations after six years - just those while we are sleeping/relaxing, that really do cradle the body. Good luck finding what works for you. Not all visco foam is the same.
